2. What is the difference between a Cat-Back system and a rear muffler section?

A cat-back system will have a muffler and a tip section along with tubing to extend forward toward the catalytic converter, and in most cases connect directly to the converter. A rear section is basically just that, a muffler with tip(s) that replaces the rearmost section (including the muffler and tip) of the stock system.Back to Top

3. What kind of power increase will I see from installing a Monza/TFX exhaust system?

The TFX exhaust systems will produce an average of 12%-14% power increase at the rear wheels. The Monza exhaust system will produce an average of 8%-10% power increase.Back to Top

4. What type of Material are the Monza/ TFX exhaust systems made of?

Pacesetter uses mandrel bent 16 gage aluminized (mild steel) tubing for the construction of all exhaust systems. The mufflers are all aluminized with fully welded cases.Back to Top

5. What advantage is mandrel bent tubing of press bent?

In a mandrel bending process an internal form or mandrel, is pulled through the tubing during the bending process. This allows the diameter of the tube to stay constant all the way through the bend. When building a performance exhaust system, it is important that the tube diameter stay constant all the way through to provide a smooth, consistent exhaust flow. In a press bending process there is no mandrel used which allows the tube to collapse in at the bend, for example if you were to press bend a piece of  2-1/4” diameter tubing it would be reduced down to a 2” or even less at the bends.Back to Top

11. Why doesn't PaceSetter use braided flex joints on their Sport Compact headers?

PaceSetter uses a ball and socket joint that is assembled with compression springs instead of expensive braided flex joints to help the end user. How does this help? Cost! Braided flex joints are very expensive and by using the ball and socket assembly, we are able to sell the same features at a lower price.Back to Top

12. What types of finishes are available on Pacesetter headers?

The standard finish for pacesetter headers is Black paint. This is not a high temp finish. For longer lasting finish, a high temp paint (VHT, etc) is recommended. All pacesetter headers are also available with Armor Coat, a polished high temperature Metallic Ceramic Coating; this finish will resist rust and corrosion extending the life of the header. The main advantage of the Armor Coat are under hood temperatures are reduced. This means cooler air into the intake plus less heat fatigue on the components under the hood.Back to Top
